AN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN CARVED FAIENCE FROG RING in yellow gold, the glazed ceramic frog set to a later gold mount with pierced scrolling designs to the shoulders, no assay marks, size K 1/2 / 5.75, 3.0g. Accompanied by a facsimile letter dated 11/6/1939 from English Photo Stores, Cairo, Egyptian Curiosities Dealers attesting to the authenticity of the frog carving, and stating, 'In reply to your letter regards the beautiful frog it is real genuine Antique found in the ruins of Karnak. The frog worn by the Old Egyptian as charm of protection and emblem of prosperities, the frog belonging to the period of the 18th dynastic about 1500 B. Christ. The colour is blue greenish, artistic work.'
